A new Dell battery comes in a loaded condition and must be discharged before use (see your computer manual for charging for use). Upon initial use (or after a prolonged storage period) the battery may require two to four charge / discharge before achieving maximum capacity.
When charging the battery for dell latitude d830 first time your computer may indicate that charging is complete after only 10-15 minutes. This phenomenon is normal for rechargeable batteries. Simply remove the battery from the computer and repeat the charging procedure. If the Dell Inspiron 6400 battery will not be in use for a month or more, we recommend that you remove the device and stored in a cool, dry place.
It is normal that a dell battery become warm during charging and discharging.
A battery of Dell eventually lose its charge if unused. Therefore, it may be necessary to recharge the battery after a storage period. A Li-Ion Laptop battery voltage is 10.8 or 14.4 V, are actually the same as 11.1V or 14.8V, respectively.
How long does a new battery power a laptop?
This is difficult to determine. Actual battery run-time depends on the energy demand made by the team. For laptops, the use of the monitor, hard disk and other peripherals result in an additional drain on the battery, reducing the run time and battery performance. The total runtime of the battery is also heavily dependent on equipment design. In general, our new high capacity battery will last as long (and more generally 20-50% more) as your old battery did when new.
What is the lifespan of a new battery?
The life of a rechargeable lithium ion battery in normal conditions is usually about 500 cycles of loading / unloading. This means that one and a half to three years of battery life for the average user. As the rechargeable battery begins to die, you will notice a decrease in the duration of the battery. When a battery that originally operated the notebook for three hours only provides the user with a value of one hour of use, it's time for a new one.
How are batteries rated? (What are volts and amps)
There are two ratings on every battery: volts and amp-hour (AH or mAh). The new battery voltage should match the voltage of the original, unless the chemical batteries are different (NI-MH and Li-Ion batteries are different degrees of tension, even if they are for the same laptop). Most of our batteries are rated highest amp-hours than the original battery found on the device. This is indicative of an increased run time (higher capacity) and not cause any incompatibilities.
